Hummer H2For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.
Looking for an OEM Replacement Dry or Wet air filter for 08 H2. , The mechanic who completed my tuning, great performance increase, suggested OEM filter only as the air intake is cold from Hummer via the passenger fender. Found only 1 performance SRY from Airaid. Any suggestions appreciated.
Your mechanic doesn't know much about air intakes. The fender source is good, other than that, it is like a muffler in reverse with ridiculous flow reducing resonator construction.
Take a LOOK at your 08 stock system. Looks like an alien contraption with tentacles, which keep sound like a vacuum cleaner "whoosh", but interrupt flow.
If you were a customer looking for a recommendation, this is what I suggest:
Airaid (oiled gauze) #720-182
AFE (oiled gauze) #10-10088 AFE Pro Dry-S (washable synthetic-no oil) #11-10088 = Our go to recommended H2 performance filter.
Donaldson #P604273 OEM stock paper replacement
Wow. What a great deal of information. So the OEM is not as great as a aftermarket Cold Air Intake that has the top open, only to be sealed by underneath of hood when closed? Thanks

AM is not sealed by the hood. OEM CAI is sealed to the outside air, cold air intakes bring cooler air into your engine and combustion chamber. In doing so, cold air intakes boost engine power and efficiency. That’s because colder air has a higher oxygen density. More oxygen is included in a given volume of cold air than a given volume of warm or hot air. Therefore, the resulting combustion reaction is more effective, producing more engine power and greater mileage.
The stock airbox itself is excellent. The tube is pretty bad though. I just used an Airaid intake tube on mine. Most of the open top air boxes are crappy and leak a ton of underhood air in making them effectively hot air intakes. Not sure of they have just a tube for the 08/09 ones though.

Nice! Polyethylene has a low thermal conductivity for an effective CAI.
Mine is (obviously) Airaid. Docs is an Airdoc (which he provided a link to their site). Also mine if for an 03-07 while the one Doc showed if for an 08/09.
Both will have a bit more noise under the hood. Part of the very idea behind the contorted and bizarre factory tube is to make it quieter.
