I have a Piece of heavy cord tied to my hood release in my Vette. That has two releases left and right on my hood. If that pull cable ever breaks ....I'm screwed.

That's exactly why I removed the loop that's bolted to the hood. Anybody shop will be able to go up through the driver side front wheel and release it in a couple minutes. But I figured I don't need an interior release. If you look at over the road trucks, they use the two latches on the outside of the hood on each side.... Good enough for me. Unless of course you live somewhere that you have to worry about your battery being stolen or something.

Yah Know?? That's a Great Idea. All you need is those two side latches to hold down the Clam Shell. I bought a set of Billet custom made latch's that use a Big Butt Spring instead of that crappy rubber thing. Mine failed and rotted and the plastic chrome started coming off.

Here's one version.. But there are many..some over $200.00...

Lol, I drive a 2025 Peterbilt and they still use the rubber ones just like on the H2. They last for years and a couple million miles.

The two rubber side latches are all you get on a $194,000 vehicle and they work great

Yeah but it must be real rubber,,,, The gack they use on the H2 seems to be not as good ...Plus the Plastic chrome starts to come off if you live in a Snow Salt environment.

yours must be aftermarket mark as the oem h2 ones are not chrome or made of gack.

My 2 is 2009. I live in South NJ where we have hot and cold and salt air as well as salt on the streets. It was the factory equipped latch. If started to deteriorate over the years. The chrome coating was coming off.

When I say Chrome....I call it a chrome like finish. It's the same with the steering wheel on the 09 H2. It looks like SS or shiny metal. It's actually Paint. Mine started to wear off at the ends near the round Steering wheel. I made a Post here with Pic's showing the fix.
