Hummer H2 For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.

Angry Help, no power to front wheels.

Hi,
I picked up a 05 H2 last week. Yesterday we got 10 inches of snow, and well i do not have 4wd..

The buttons swing 4hi 4hi lock, 4low and the transfer case also switches. the rear diff also locks.
However i get no power to the front wheel.

regular mode, rear tires spin.
4hi lock rear tires spin
4lo lock rear tires spin.

Ive had the problem on my 2500 suburbans it was either the encoder thing on the front diff or a burned up transfercase, ( the 2500 have that auto trac crap with clutch packs)

Any one got any ideas ?

Thanks
Shawn

Hi there. I’m going to point to your transfer case. The front diff on my 03 didn’t have any electronics to shift in and out of 4 wheel drive. The hummer is all wheel drive and always “locked in” the transfer case should be transferring the torque when the wheels are slipping.

Do you get any dummy lights when the front is stationary?

Well update I was showing how it doesn’t work and it stated last night Today same deal no power. So I stopped on a hill that has ice.
Regular 4Hi It spins at about 10 mph. Scrolls traction active. You can feel it doing something then it slowly sends power to the front

4lock and low lock it’s the same. Eventually kicks in. After trying it a few times it takes about 30-45 seconds for the front tires to work and it seems to have to be over 15-20 mph which makes no sense to me . Is there a speed sensor that could be bad?

No codes, no lights, etc. also I don’t get any “binding” on pavement in hi or lock

I read somewhere that it could be an electrical issue with a bunch of wires on the drivers side under the vehicle. The wires are most probably not connected to the frame which could cause the 4hi 4low and service 4wd message. It could be the transfer case but theres no harm in double checking those wires as well.
