H2 w/Diesel buying advice
Hey everyone. This is my first post, and its going to be a doozy. Never owned a Hummer, but that might change in the next few days. So I found a hummer H2, that has the Diesel conversion done. Supposively, the Diesel has around 40k on it. The Hummer has 170k. The interior has been completely redone. Vehicle has a Fabtech lift, 38x15.50x20 wheels. It looks great, but what I am really concerned with is the Diesel and the conversion. I tested the 4WD, and it works. The vehicle under normal driving conditions, is in 2WD, but you can shift to 4WD and turn on pavement and feel it grab and hop so I know the front end is locking up and pulling correctly.
I owned a 2004 Silverado 2500 with the LBY/Allison, and it was awesome. I feel this would be a great combo for the Hummer also, but the conversion has a LBZ. I am not a mechanic, so I dont really know what to look for, other than it drives fine, and shifts great, not blowing smoke (injectors). Idles great, turbo whines, etc.
What should I look for?
What would be a fair price for the vehicle as described? 2006 Hummer H2 truck style, LBZ added, Allison tranny, Vehicle has 170k but engine has 40k. 32k before swap. Fabtech lift, 38" tires, new interior(nice), everything mechanically appears to be running good and operating smoothly. No swaying, road hop, etc. Also has a Programmer, but hasn't been installed. I cannot find any comps, and know that what you say is just ballpark
Appreciate the help EVERYONE!

Do you know who did the conversion? I have a 2008 with an lmm, it’s been a great truck. Mashmotors did mine. Has the transmission been built out or is it stock? What gear ratio, stock? Are you buying from a dealer or the guy that had it done? Dealer will know less about the conversion than the guy that paid to have it done.

Yes, its 2WD until you hit 4WD button, then its 4WD. It is not an AWD vehicle.

2005 H2 SUT, Vehicle has 177K, Duramax/Allison with 45K, New interior, Lifted, 38x15.5R20 Cooper MTs w/ 20" Rims, Nice heavy duty aftermarket front n rear bumpers/brushguard, lots LED lights, clean
Im pretty sure it has the Allison transmission. The current owner, received the vehicle on trade, and doesnt know the story of the build. He said that it was converted in Texas, and it has approx 40k on the motor/tranny. thats about all I can get out of him. He doesnt have the paperwork. I want to investigate it more, but unsure how or where to start.
just looking at the conversion will tell you a lot about it, is everything in the right place and secured correctly, does everything function as it should like the cruise, ABS, etc..... this is the hard work when it comes to converting to a diesel (getting all the computers to talk and work together).
If someone took the time to make it all work as it was designed to then either a shop did it or someone with some extensive knowledge on programming did the conversion.
You really have to be careful as anyone with HP tuners can turn off all the trips for the check engine light
