ALOHA to y'all,

My 2006 H2 got rear ended almost 2 years ago. My liftgate and rear bumper with the tow hitch got damaged. I have replaced the rear bumper cover and tow hitch receiver from Auto Gator Parts in California. I am planning of replacing my liftgate with an 03 liftgate without the rear license plate pocket and re-use mine (06). Please advise and thank you all in advance.

Here’s some pictures before and after. The last picture is with the used rear bumper and tow receiver. My 2006 H2 has only 40K miles 🤙

 

That looks like a pretty hard hit, did it total the other car?

 

Yes...it was a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500. I tooked out my spare tire carrier coz I like the clean look. Maybe if I had it on my rear damage will just be minimal.

 

As far as I am aware the 03 liftgate should work just fine. You "might" have to transfer the wiring harness from the damaged gate if the replacement does not have the licence plate wiring behind the plain licence plate pocket. I know the pocket itself will interchange (I replaced the broken one on my 2003 with one intended for a later model).

 

03 should have the licence plate lights on the gate because the spare is located inside the truck. the ones with external spare do not.

 

The 03 liftgate replacement I'm planning to buy doesn't come with the license plate pocket so I'm thinking of using the one from my 06 without lights. I will just put back my spare tire carrier again.
