Default Fuel Pumps - How to get one to the UK?

Having a hard time getting a pump delivered to the UK without being broken.

The problem is I've had 2-off ACD MU1423's and 1-off Delphi FG0393 from RA (which are the same pump by the way) shipped to me, each time they've been damaged in transit. The problem the standard packing leaves the float-arm still attached and it snaps-off due to vibration, the extaernal packaging is OK. Its like "shaken-baby" syndrome for want of a better analogy.

So I'm trying to find a company in the US who will detach the float-arm before shipping. Now you would think this would be a simple task, the problem is most companies ship from a storage depot and never see the actual part.

Its a real problem, its hard to get to speak to a human and we don't have suppliers here in the UK, so I'm stuck.

Any suggestions?

You could buy a plane ticket to this side of the pond and pick 1 up. Or contact a local parts store and have them special order 1 Euro Car Parts

Plane ticket sounds cheaper and more fun

Sad thing I was in Yosemite last year, I could have brought one back with me.

I'll try some UK suppliers again, but I already know they're gonna be megabucks, it always is. Actually found a UK supplier, they wanted $550 !!

That silly tiny little plastic wiper-arm is so fragile, I even contacted ACD and Delphi for a replacement sender, but that never went anywhere.

I thought about fixing the arm in place, but too risky. The arm almost stays in-place, again too risky. Maybe one of those cheaper pumps is worth a shot, still too risky. This is a one time fix for me, just like the brakes.

I might just drop the tank and start from there, maybe I could salvage the old arm (not the electrical contacts) just the arm. Then I can order a replacement in the knowledge that I have a solution (assuming the parts are the same)

Its a real pain - you now know part of the reasons why the job never got done... it was not from lack of trying...

Basically buy one, ship it to my shop. I'll repack it properly (disassembling where needed) and reship it to you. Only additional costs to me is whatever the actual shipping costs are, nothing more. If you want me to take care of that shoot me a PM and I'll send you my company info.

For that matter, if you want to get and add any other small bits into the same shipment this would also be a good time to do so...

thanks guys.
hummerz I will try Delphi once more and ask the question, thanks for the info.

MixManSC that's very kind of you to offer and it may come to that.

Just waiting for a couple of answers from US suppliers, plus someone nearby who claims to have a new one

Wish I'd taken the blue pill...
