Default Front Wiper Problem (Not Motor)

My front wipers recently stopped working on my 2008 H2. Doing the online research it looked like a fuse or wiper motor were the two likely issues.

Fuses look good and since the H2 has 140K miles on it I figured I would just swap out the motor. They're cheap enough. Old motor didn't look too bad when i removed it. No real signs of water intrusion but threw on the new one anyway.

Still no luck with the wipers turning on.

Any suggestions? The next place I'm considering looking is the stalk. Has anyone had this problem or replaced a stalk before?

I would check for a relay before tearing into the stalk...

The wipers began working on their own yesterday. I quickly realized when I put it back together that I reversed the arms, linkage under the cowl and when the wipers run they run down then up and stop in the up position. Need to pull the cowl off again, separate the motor from the wiper assembly and reattach it so the run in the right direction. I'm thinking this a a moisture issue. I'm always chasing water intrusion into the driver footwell.

The wiper motor has a known issue when water gets inside. There's a circuit board in there. I haven't opened up one yet, but if it looks accessible I would open it up, use some electric contact cleaner, and seal it up real well.

Thanks I opened up the old motor when I swapped in the new one. Didn't look too bad inside but it doesn't matter now since i installed the new motor.
