Hummer H2For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.
Had my new ones still in the box for about 2 months....
No I've had this H2 for about a year, going through the engine, transmission, transfer case and rear differential. Finally got around to pulling front wheels off, good to see the front hubs look fairly new, no rust. Axle shafts also look fairly new. Assuming the A-Arms have been replaced with aftermarket, zerk fittings for the ball joints.
Broke loose the 15 mm nut with minimal torque. They were both a little more than hand tight, despite looking like they were original. Rather far gone.
Only took a couple minutes to change both. Not necessary to remove the front wheels, I just wanted to get a good look at the brakes, hubs and ball joints.
Definitely feels better when pulling into and out of parking lots where there's a bump.
I was totally surprised how quick it was to swap them out. I was expecting that nut to be rusted solid onto the stud. I didn't think anything on a 21-year-old H2 could be replaced without some sort of grief
I noticed when I was doing it that both my upper and lower ball joints are greasable with zerk fittings. I'm assuming both upper and lower a arms with the ball joints or aftermarket then? I would assume OEM or sealed...
