Hummer H2For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.
I have a 2006 H2 and have been wanting to change the chrome handle on the drivers door to all black. I am repainting the front drivers door and hood and thought this would be the perfect time to replace it. Has anyone ever replaced one before? The rear door was easy but it looks like the glass needs to come out to get to the nuts holding the door handle in place. I hope there is something I am overlooking. Is there a better way to do it then removing the glass.
I've NEVER removed glass to replace door handles,NEVER! In your case there are 3-10mm nuts to remove, easy access to 1 and tight fit to the other 2. If you don't have the ability/tools to access/remove the blind nuts, remove the glass.
Your pics are not correct. You highlighted a picture of the mirror access holes. The door handle is not accesible without taking the glass out on the front two doors. The rear handles come out easily. Actually, the glass is quite easy to remove on the front door windows. If you pull back the foam on any other doors, use a razor blade and gently pull on the foam and the glue will stretch. Slice through it with the blade and the foam will not tear. It makes it easy to replace it and is much cleaner.
i need to correct myself. The pics are correct. I pulled the glass and it was a piece of cake. The trick is to pull the weather stripping around the door window first.
