Door Removal

Door removal
I haven't on a Hummer. It's at least a 2 person job normally. If you have a cherry picker its easier. I just roll the window down a little bit and put a strap thru and put it on the picker. Don't put too much pressure on the door. This is only to support it so you don't break or mess up anything by dropping it on the ground. Not sure about all the electrical stuff. Someone will know if there's a plug maybe in the footwell you may be able to pull thru instead of disconnecting all the wires. Not sure why you want or need to take the door off tho. Resting it on a jack will help if you don't have a picker. Hope i helped out a lil bit. Good luck.

Thanks C57. I am getting ready to shoot the base and clear coat paint on my 2006 H2 and it will be much easier for me to remove the doors and do it right. I’ve pulled the glass and trim on the doors but was really thinking about the electrical wiring to the door. I am pretty sure there is a plug and/or pull through wiring right to the fuse box on the driver side like you said. All the plastic connectors are so brittle from age and the Texas heat. I usually end up breaking things trying to figure out how to remove them😀

yes there is a harness plug you can detach at the pillars i don't recall if i had to remove the kick panels to release the rubber conduit to the doors and unplug te harness plug.. for the front doors you have to open the hood plus remove those plastic caps on the cowl by the A pillars. the hinges have a bracket with one screw in the center of the hinge that needs to be removed then the doors should lift out but they are heavy as heck. 2 person job or at least a big hydraulic jack and maybe a piece of carpet or a floor mat on the jack head. rear doors should be similar.

Thanks for the input. I never thought the doors would be that heavy. That’s good to know along with the screw under the cowl caps. This whole thing started with some stone chip repairs and a good detailing. That led to the compound revealing the checking in the hood paint and learning the hood needed to be stripped down to the bare SMC. After that I said what the hell. Stayed with the original WA8555 black paint
Thanks for the input
