Hummer H2For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.
As we all know the GM Tech2 or MDI tools are the defacto standard and the best diagnostic tools for working on our Hummers but finding a non-chinese original is nearly impossible and super expensive.
Plus for the most part the Tech2 is useless for anything newer then 2013 and that's for GM only.
Since I maintain all my other vehicles I needed something more current. So I recently purchased another bi-directional tool for use with my wife's XT5 and other vehicles that I may have in the future.
The Xtool D9 is a professional level bi-directional tool that has limited programming ability and a very impressive list of supported vehicle including, Asian, European, American and Electrics. It also supports the older vehicles such as our Hummers.
I included a Topology Screen shot of my H2 showing all the systems in my H2. Items in Green are good with no codes, Gray are items non-existent and RED are modules with existing codes. It gives you a quick top down view that you can simply select the module for other functions. Select the icon for additional info, testing etc. Kind of a one stop shopping thing, no curse menus or trying to figure out were something or a test is located.
The unit features a Bluetooth VCI and hardwire connection as well. It also comes with a hard case and about 15 different adapters for various cars. Has remote operation, screen capture, printer support and much more. It is built on the Android platform with a 9" screen heavy duty case and comes with 3 years of free software updates, 2 year warranty and can be purchased under $900.00 from Amazon with a 30 day free return policy if your not happy with it for any reason.
Its also great for emission issues. I have a friend with a Mercedes Benz Sprinter RV van that wouldn't go into a DPF regen cycle. I hooked it up cleared the persistant faults and then performed a demand DPF mobile regen and reset the emission systems. It's now doing normal regen's as it should and saved him about $500.00 bucks and a trip to the MB stealership.
Again while it does not have all the in-depth capabilities of the Tech2 for our Hummers it damn good substitute and a good addition to your tool box for your other vehicles.
