Daytime running lights not working new headlight switch 2003 h2
In the past month, I have taken my time and got every light working on the H2. I replaced every bulb as well so I had all new bulbs. The daytime running lights weren’t working in the past and I got them working.
I checked them the other day and they’re not working. The only thing that I changed was the headlight switch. I bought a new one from O’Reilly.
I was wondering if there is a specific headlight switch that you have to buy or if there is something in the new switches that can hinder the daytime running lights from working or if it is a separate issue altogether. I have just always gone back to the last part that was replaced if there is a problem.
Both bulbs work and harnesses are connected. I haven’t had a chance to spend any time checking for power at the connectors, etc.. I was just wondering if there was anything obvious I should check especially since they were working no problem before the switch replacement. I don’t think I have the old switch to put back in.

Your DRL’s are running off a photocell on top of the dash close to the windshield they don’t have a switch.
When you put it in drive they come during the day.
When it gets dark the auto headlights come on when set on auto and your DRL’s turn off.
you can bypass the sensor with a sweep from your DRL fuse and headlight module in the fuse box under the hood.
When you do that your DRL’s will stay on during the night.

You also have the switch on the driver side of the transmission, at the linkage. Most of the parts listings referred to it as the neutral safety switch, but it actually does a lot more. It communicates with the BCM and ECM what gear you are in, which enables a lot of functions. Such as turning off and on the daytime running lights, locking and unlocking the doors automatically, and more. I replaced mine about 3 weeks ago, I noticed sometimes the doors were not unlocking in park... And if I wiggle the shifter while in park, the lights on the master switches in the driver's door were flickering. Replacing that item solved the issue.
Quote from the Owner Manual,
The DRL system will come on when the following conditions are met:
Refer back to the diagram posted earlier and notice unplugging the Headlight Switch is same as putting it in Auto, try this to eliminate the switch as a possible problem.
Next easiest would be to check/replace the Ambient Light sensor.
After these try RobertDez's suggestion which relate to the transmission being in Park (P)
I seem to recall DRL operation may be linked to the country of origin, for example it's mandatory in Canada

- The ignition is on,
- the exterior lamps control is in AUTO,
- the transmission is not in PARK (P)
- the light sensor determines it is daytime
