Default Brake Pad Retaining Clips Etc - Confusing

To save taking the wheels off, Im trying to work out exactly what retaining clips are needed i.e. how many and where and are they needed?

RockA (here) has these various descriptions:-
ACD 18K2295 Rear Lower
ACD 18K2297 Rear Upper
ACD 1791339 Rear; 4.10 Rear Axle Ratio (GT5)
ACD 1791342 Front; 9,900 lb Hydraulic Power Brakes

Some say "Choose $$$ x4"

Some rotor kits with pads show 4 clips per axle

The plan is to buy all that is likely to be needed to change the Rotors and Pads, so far I've listed:-
  • Parking Brake Hardware Kit
  • Power Stop Parking Brake Shoes B771
  • What ever pad retaining clips that may be need
So far I have EBC grooved Rotors + Yellowstuff Pads (better than ceramic) on order which have a great name here.

It would be a great help if someone could guide me as the smaller parts are not available in the UK and as it takes time to get them I'd rather not get stuck.

Cheers guys.

those go on the caliper bracket and allow the ears of the brake pads to slide as the brakes are applied or released you usually put a dab of brake grease also on them.
you need 2 per wheel caliper make sure to remove all debris from under them so the pads do not bind as they slide

Thanks for that, but what's with the upper/lower?

Should I get the bottom ones on the list..?

i have no idea what they would mean by upper and lower unless they are describing something with the E-brake drums. the pads and rotor kit you posted to looked like it came with the clips for the pads.

Ah I'm a Brit, so I probably do translate well, no worries I'll figure it out.

The rotors were only an example, the ones I've ordered do not come with clips.

yeah all they do is give a clean surface for the ears on the brake pads to slide un obstructed. yours might be fine to reuse.

I've never reused brake pad guides! (There's always damage, wear, rust,etc..)
Most of the pads I've ever purchased come with new guides, if not, I buy a hardware kit separately.
Removed the pads and thoroughly clean the caliper brackets, install the new pad guides, lube, install the pads and make sure the pads move freely, on the brackets.
Also make sure to remove the caliper slides, clean and lube, and make sure those move freely too.
Most important, make sure to clean the hubs for the new rotors to mount true:

"grooved and yellowstuff"?
UK is behind on technology.
Slotted drilled rotors + carbon ceramic pads.
Z36 kit has the best price with modern technology.

EBC make Redstuff, Yellow Stuff and GreenStuff and a very reputable racing company here reckons the argument over ceramic is an old one, so I'm not sure who is "behind"

I know someone who owns a high-quality disc/rotors manufacturing company here in the UK, so with his advice I'm confident the rotors and brake pad combination I've ordered will offer a perfomance to match/rival carbon-ceramic pads and slotted & drilled rotors.

Regarding the logistics of US Vs UK manufacturing, both will machine metal, cut grooves, drill holes and the materials and processes are likely to be very similar, the main difference is the cost of shipping,
