binding/clunking feeling under driver seat area
hey guys so about 2-3 months ago when i am turning or finished turning sometimes i would feel a binding or clunk like feeling in the driver mat/seat area, it kinda felt like binding (hoping thats the word)
i was going to take it to the mechanic but it randomly stopped so i completely forgot about it
today it started randomly doing it again, i didnt change anything like i didnt do anything for it to start doing it. its very light and brief like i dont think a passenger would notice it. i also noticed it didnt do it everytime i turned
i noticed after 5-10 mins of driving it stopped doing it completely
what do you guys think it is? i am not mechanic but with my guess i was thinking maybe transfer case is starting to go? or maybe u joints? i dont think my ujoints have ever been changed
thanks

It could be so many things. It could be power-steering (gearbox, booster, or pump [check fluid], steering linkage, or I've even had issues with the front differential not disengaging the wheel locking mechanism creating a 'biting' effect when turning.

hmm it did it again but this time it felt more like steering because when i was backing out of my stall, it kinda made a nose as if two gears are like sticking kinda thing. idk i suck at explaining noises
it went away when the truck warmed up tho
i have new ball joints, tie rods, upper control arm with ball joints.
any clue what i could do to diagnose where its coming from?
thx

Read up on the steering shafts - they were binding in the shaft sliding areas due to lack of lubrication. They have a new part number and it’s about a 15 -30 minute install.
Worth investigating as as this is a known issue that will make popping / banging noises. I believe the part is about $75. You can find clips on YouTube also that show the procedure- it’s easy to change.
the updated part number is 19329330 - I believe that is the latest revision. That is a GM part number.
Let us know how you make out.
