Hummer H2 For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.

Wanting to upgrade my factory brakes, including calipers, rotors and pads.
I also like the cross drilled and slotted look.

Im thinking the Powerstop z36 setup looks promising?!?

I would love to have the Wilwood big brake setup but that’s to rich for my blood!
any feedback is welcome…

I believe I looked into the powerstop brakes a while back, and I just don't think they have enough of a performance benefit to justify them. I would just stay OEM unless you do something crazy like willwoods. I would recommend changing your brake lines if they're old an worn out. The flexible rubber parts to stainless steel braided.

In fact the only difference in the powerstop kit is the slotted rotors and carbon ceramic pads which IMO would actually perform worse during normal driving conditions as there's less contact area and the pads are designed to be most efficient at higher temperatures than you would normally see. The calipers that come in the kit are the same design as OEM. They're just powder-coated red to look cool.

I used the Powerstaop brakes on my 96 Z71 which prior to the swap had terrible brakes, after installing the Powerstop setup the brakes were great. I did nothing else other than swap the rotors and pads.

I will add that the pads on my truck were not OEM at that time so don't have a comparison of the Powerstop and OEM.

I installed the Power Stop K2023-36 Front and Rear Z36 Truck & Tow Brake Kit, Carbon Fiber Ceramic Brake Pads and Drilled/Slotted Brake Rotors about a year ago on my H2.

I love them. There is much more stopping power, and everything is very quiet and smooth.

That's interesting. I wonder if the better stopping power is from the powerstop brakes or just the fact that you have new brakes. The pads and rotors might be worth a try, but I wouldn't recommend the calipers since they are the same.

My factory rotors were in very good shape, along with the pads. When I replaced them with the powerstops, the difference is there. stopping 7,000 lbs at 50mph is a breeze. I have factory calipers, can't justify spending thousand's on new calipers.

Well then... I know what my next set of brakes will be!

Ill necromance this do those involved get notifications

Im seriously investigating having adapter plates made to run the 2022 Silverado quad piston fixed calipers front and rear.

The goofy think is they bolt onto the rear but want a 345mm rotor

My plan is to find a 345mm front rotor and design a bracket & hardware that occupies the space youd put shims on a 1500

In the rear I gotta see if I can drop the caliper a half inch or else we are looking at fancy rotors to run them on 345mm rotors all around

I actually want to put them on a 345 in the front and the factory 330mm rotor in the rear for brake bias...

Youll need hydroboost to power four quad pistons. I thought ALL H2 came stock with hydroboost but i hear people talking about different boosters and vacuum so clearly not?

Each caliper supplies 25,000 ftlbs of clamp force as opposed to the 14,000ftlb from the h2 front caliper...

Im trying to get it so you can run oem rotors, but worst case you'll need aftermarket rotors from a place selling $1600-2500 *aftermarket* fixed caliper setups. But youll have $200 oem fixed calipers that all four take the same powerstop pads.

I wish the rotors could be the same like the h1 but the safari 2500hd rear parking brake drum setup will not allow it.

Fwiw, are those shoes S10 drum brakes? They look exactly like ranger drum brakes. If I can stick a better pad there, why not. Lever parking brake FTW

The Silverado brake setup sounds fantastic, My daughter and son-in-law have a 2022 Silverado and 2024 GMC Yukon, and those braking systems are the best in any vehicle I have ever driven. Not to mention the HUD.........Was thinking of purchasing one of these newer vehicles, but the prices are over the top. Just finished a 3,000 mile driving trip in the Yukon, I'm spoiled now, except GM needs to work on the hard seats in those vehicles....Love my hummer seats. Okay back to brake talk.

The mk1 hummer seats are the best truck seats ever imho

80s recaro knockoffs, I wanna see about swapping them onto cooled caddy frames... Like take hot/cold caddy seats and then swap in everything from the outside of the h2 seats. Ill need perf leather or mesh centers but Im having custom covers made...

Cloth centers like an actual recaro would be sick...

Mine would say Yukon but if I'm having recaro style fabric sublimation printed I could easily do Hummer and seats with AC that said hummer over and over in an accent color against grey scale ir sepia scale center panels would be sick, no?

And yes back to brakes. If yall like the seats idea lmk Ill start another topic...

Lots of things I wanna do, could become something yall might wanna buy... Basically...
