Default Battery keeps dying

Hey everyone!

My hummer h2 battery keeps dying I’ve had some custom work done to it such as Bluetooth lights installed and it came with a custom stereo system when I bought it. I had my radio go out and I took it to a radio shop to get it fixed. Afterwards my battery kept dying took it back they said they had nothing to do with it. So now I’m screwed and I want your guys input on what could be causing it. I went through my fuse box and checked all my fuses to see if I could find the draw no luck. I my battery will die in one week if I don’t turn the truck on. If I daily drove it then it wouldn’t ever die but I only drive once a week or so and if I leave the battery connected it tends to just die. So I disconnect it and reconnect when I want to drive it.

Any ideas on how to diagnose my electrical issue? I think it’s prolly a Parasitic draw. But no idea how to find it

Remember there are two fuse boxes in the H2 - side of dashboard drivers side is the second. Just go one fuse at a time as shown- patience, you will find the circuit with the draw.

Let us know what you find.

If you give up easily, just buy a battery tender & keep the rig on tender when not in use... not advised as a solution but will work until you have time to look.

First thing is to take your battery and have it tested. And you have not done that?

here's a excellent test procedure
9 times otta 10 it's something aftermarket connected incorrectly.

I agree w/ finall have the battery checked
also agree w/ Chrmer3 w/ a small charger.

I don't drive my RV van much it sits for weeks at a time its battery doesn't drain (besides normal battery drain) however I use a simple 5watt solar panel this

not sure how good it will work on the H2 bc where I park the panel would need to be aimed though the side window the tint mite interfer/weaken the charge probally better to aim though windshield.

Could be as simple as terminal heads connecting to battery need cleaning. Had same issue. Just bad connection. Take steel wool rub it good. Might solve your probs.

Use a multimeter to read the amperage drawl. Assuming it's not in range, pull fuses until you identify. If you don't have a multimeter the harbor freight cheapy and some alligator clips will do the job.
MY Hummer's parasitic discharge was a combo of OnStar and Cabin Air Temperature Sensor. I still use a trickle charger though as I drive it infrequently and the alarm system also drains my battery.

You were right it is something aftermarket. So my Hummer H2 has lights installed outside in the wheel wells and a custom radio once i pulled those fuses each one was probably pulling .035 each my load went from .08 aps to .01 and it would spike to .02-.03 i think that spike was due to my sister's hand moving while she was holding down the prongs.

Any advice on how to rewrite/connect it up correctly?

Also, does anyone know what the max parasitic draws on the Hummer H2 while it's sitting?

P.S ik its been a while since I've updated you guys just got done with college finals

my battery kept dying every 2 days, I took my temp Gun ( Lazer) and poped off the fuse/relay cover and shot the relays to see if any where hot, the a/c relay was stuck closed, replaced all the relays and no more dead battery…

is there a way to check them without a temp gun? Like with a multimeter?
