Hummer H2For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.

Question on 2009 H2 SUV LUX 6.2
I haven't read the manual yet on this what I call a problem. I did a search but nothing? Of course on my NAV unit I can go and select Auto...Day ..Or Night for the display depending on time of day. I usually keep it on ""Auto". It did switch with no problem as well as the headlamps and the interior control lighting for buttons selection Etc.
Now that we have gone into Daylight Saving Time, there seems to be a Very Very long delay during the morning start up before the Headlamps go off and the NAV display reverts to Day Time. My windshield sensor is clean and I have at one time hit it with a Bright flash light for min or so to make it switch from night today.
What I'm wondering is if the time of day is also a factor in the timing of the switch off other then the windshield sensor? I have played with the rotating head lamp **** and tried different moves. But it seems weird to me that it should be in the daylight setting when I come out at 9:AM.
I know there is a delay built in so that when you go under an underpass or short tunnel the system will wait and make sure that things don't happen fast off and on. Same with the Mirrors as they delay when you go into reverse.
If you have quick answer, great..if not I'll go rummage for the manual.
Dash sensor is a simple device. Interpretation of the signal from it is done at the BCM and delay is a matter of BCM preset programming based on sensor input.
Clock time is totally unrelated. It's just the angle of the sun being lower in the winter. The H2 seems to be worse at this than my Avalanche, and I can see the sun sensor is shaded all the time due to the relatively flat windshield.

Thanks PGI,
That I know. I'm in electronics. But the shift from DLST seems to screw up this system. As mentioned by HellHoof..It might be the angle of the sun. My 2009 is parked in the same spot each night. I thought the DAY LIGHT not the SUN would be the trigger to fire off and on the lights. But it looks like it needs some bright sun to do the job and generate a few more electrons to wake up the "BCM".
Thanks to both for your input. Maybe I'll rig up a Super Bright Led overtop of the WS sensor...L.O.L.

DLST only changes the system because you are now driving it an hour earlier than you were before the time shift .

Got That...good point. But I'm driving an hour earlier when the sun is up but not shining on the photocell and the headlamps are on and the NAV screen is in the dark mode.
it would have been a better idea..(But More Cost To GM) if they used a time clock that was synced to the time year and date and would make the changes like other devices on the market. But Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo we have to get jiggy with electronics and photocells and BCM's and ECM's so we can add more to the 2's complexity.
Dam...I Love My HUMMER H2!!!! Always keeps me interested.......

Where did you get your ganja?
Photocells are simply an on/off switch controlled by light input. I have them in my rides along with many in lights around my home. When darkness falls, all lights trigger on, no matter what time it is!
Check here for daily updates in your area>>>>Sunrise, Sunset, and Daylength

Funny Ganja is from Vietnam ...Brought some home years ago. Also Photocells varie output by light levels. Just because it's light does not mean a cell is at full electron flow or at peak voltage output. They are not an off on switch when hit by dim light. They can be made to hit a threshold you want. When hit with a bright light they will reach max voltage output. If you notice the cover over the cell is not a clear lens. It is tinted and has diffusion points and is dome shaped for the application
I bypassed my sensor through connect a fuse or two.
As results my lights are always on day and night.
I think I have thread on here some where with pics if interested.

Thanks BLK WLF: I kinda like the auto thang. But it is a good idea to have your lights on in this day and age with all the HUMMER haters out there. When they see your Monster coming with it's Eyes lit up they'll GTF out of your way...
