As far as the programming issue is concerned I don't believe it necessary on the earlier H2's, now if you had an 08/09 it's a totally different story the VIN needs to be programmed into just about every interface that hangs off the bus and another advantage to the older Hummers!

 

Just out of curiosity did you have the engine running when you were bleeding the brakes? For the electric brakes, i know the ignition has to be on to run the pump.

 

When manually bleeding, it was off. But yep, for the Tech2 ABS bleed, it was running to turn on the ABS pump. This was on a 2007.
