6in Fabtech lift tune 06 H2
Waiting on Fabtech to call back. Was wondering if anyone has info on here about this. Just had a Borla exhaust put on with 22 rims and 37 Tires. It had 20 38's. Bought the predator tuner, its telling me the calibrations are not stock. Wanna find out exactly what was done. Diablo said I have to buy the stock file first. I think they said I can do it with their tuner. I was wondering if, when you have a Fabtech lift installed, if it were done by Fabtech back in Cali where they were. Is there a mandatory tune they do for the lift? Seems to me it would be a must. I bought it used with the lift installed and there is no info about a tune. Runs good now it seems, just wanna to see what Diablo performance tune would do, heard good info on here about it. Any info, thanks.
You do not need a tune for anything you’re doing. There is no reason to tune for a lift as you are not changing anything that affects the engine or transmission.
However your tire size needs to be adjusted in the ecm for the speedometer to read correctly. This won’t affect how the truck drives, it’s just a convenience thing. To be honest, because you’re only moving down an inch in tire size, i wouldn't bother with it. You will only at most see a 2-3mph higher reading than actual speed at speeds in excess of about 60mph.
The only reason you would need a tune is if your borla exhaust changed anything with catalytic converters or headers which I doubt it did. I have ever seen such a kit available for the h2 by borla.
My advice would be to not mess with any tunes as you unless you are certain of any previous owners modifications. A previous owner may have tuned it for exhaust or engine they’ve done in the past. Even with only a tune and exhaust, on a big heavy boat like the h2 you aren’t going to notice any extravagant power increase if anything at all.

Actually tuning for tire size does affect how it drives a bit.... It not only recalibrates the speedometer it also adjusts the shift pressures to better deal with the larger tires. Even a GM Tech2 does this for certain vehicles that have a factory option for different tire sizes.
But yeah. There is no such thing as a tune for a lift kit. I mentioned this in the other thread as to why a tuner will not allow a tune to be installed if a non-stock tune is already installed. Basically canned tunes in the tuning devices make percentage changes based on known stock calibrations. If those are already higher than normal additional increases in timing for example could cause severe engine damage. Some prior owner might have put a custom tune on it and never put it back to stock.
