4.88 Gear install
#4
Yep, got a set of 4:56 gears for mine a while back just haven't had time to install.
I got a couple quotes around $2200 to $2500 if I remember correctly.
Considered grabbing a set of axles from the salvage yard off a 07 (4:11's) for around the same price but was concerned about used axles that I didn't know the history of.
your first quote is steeeeeeeeeeeeeep,

So gears are swapped out and driveshafts have new u joints total price was 2900.00 and what a difference, the lie o meter in the gauge cluster was saying I was getting around 13.5 or so on the back roads once I reached the interstate and reached 70 mph I turned on the cruise control and it never tried to downshift, it kept up on some slight grades too never since owning the H2 have I been able to keep the cruise on without it going crazy to keep up unless I was driving down a hill, MPG came down to 12.9-13.1 but overall a big difference compared to the 4.10 on 37 inch tires.
