Default 2008 Intake and Valley cover gasket options

I’m now at the point where I have to add a quart every 2500 miles, so it’s time to address the multiple oil leaks on this engine. I’m gonna start from the top and work my way down but in typical ls fashion it looks like everything but the valve covers are leaking.

First is the valley cover. What intake gaskets and valley cover gaskets are the best? Gm genuine, fel-pro or another? Here’s what rock auto has…

Also I’m probably going to get a gm genuine whole oil pan and gasket set for $150 as well since I stripped my oil cooler bolts and the price for a new one is cheap enough that I don’t want to dick around with helicoils.

and if anyone has any recommendations for the front seal behind the balancer that would also be great. My ac belt popped off and dragged on it for about 6 months before I noticed.

where possible us OEM,

I tried a couple different brands of rings and ended up with OEM to get a good fit

Use the recommended sealer in all locations GM says its needed.

Yep, Every part I have replaced has been OEM GM AMERICA. The first Tranny Pan I ordered was marked GM... Further down the label it said.." Made In China". And it was in a Box marked GM. I sent it back and ordered thru another source .. A GM dealer. I received a Made in AMERICA OEM GM PAN with the reusable Pan Gasket which the first China pan did not give you. It was a one shot flat gasket.

My suggestion.... Go thru a GM Car Dealer Parts Department. Always have your VIN# handy and give it to the parts guy. There are always changes made in production. You will pay more then these On line car parts guys ...but you never get the same quality as a Dealer supplied GM part. They have to warranty the item, so you know your getting the real deal. You're 2 will love you.....L.O.L.

I'm not sure on an 08 but check the oil pressure sending unit that is located behind the intake on the Lq4. They are notoriuos for this.

Also if an 08 has knock sensors in the intake vally, replace them and the harness with OEM.

Thanks. I wonder if the gm dealer just had old stock made in America stuff. Because I think a lot of the new genuine gm stuff is made in China now.
