All the sudden my OEM backup camera that is in the inside rear view mirror started not working properly. When I put the vehicle in reverse the camera extends out from the passenger side of the mirror, but I get no video. Then when I take it out of reverse the camera does not retract. I checked the HVAC1 fuse on the fuse panel on the drivers side of the instrument panel near the door and it is not blown. Any ideas short of take it to the dealer (which will probably be costly)? Thanks.

 

The golden rule of owning a Hummer is to never take it to the dealership for out of warranty work unless you like being screwed over. Hopefully someone else here with an oem backup camera can steer you in the right direction, I installed my own after market backup camera. If the oem one crapped the bed, installing an aftermarket one yourself (newer/better technology) is light years cheaper than going to the dealership.

 

As suddenly as this problem started, I got into my Hummer today and the problem has resolved itself. Thank you all for responding. I hope it was just a glitch.
