I understand that in order to change fuel filter you must drop fuel tank to gain access.
is it necessary to change fuel pump at same time?

the fuel filter is just a sock on the mouth of the fuel pump.

 

dish1288 only 2003 models have a separate fuel filter, later H2 fuel pumps have an integrated sock filter and fuel filter.

. so good news there's nothing to change ✔️

 

Actually it is exactly like this... the filter that was mounted externally on the 03, is now part of the fuel pump on later models, as is the pressure regulator (visible at the back) for 04-07

 

 

Great animation, the pump operates like 03 pump, but with Electronically Controlled fuel pressure..

The 08's FP has an internal sock filter but no external fuel filter, perhaps electronic pressures systems don't /can't use one?

The 09 looks similar to an 08, but the FP model changed again (must be a reason)
