Hummer H2For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.
Hello to all my fellow H-2 owners. I'm a new member and I'm posting for the very first time seeking some help/suggestions. I'm in the process of restoring my 2005 H-2. I have several loose and damaged areas of the weather stripping that fits between the doors and door openings.
I have researched all over the internet and various forums for info on where the best place to purchase replacement door and door opening(s) weather stripping.
I was hoping to find a place that sold these in a kit since they are pricey when purchased by the piece. Thus far, I have only found them individually priced. Has anyone ever replaced their weather stripping or know where is the best vendor is for this?
I appreciate any help I can get and thanks in advance for any info someone can provide.
One piece at a time is how they were sold through GM parts. I'm not aware of any kits. As with most all parts that are Hummer specific, they are going to be expensive.
I would stick with Genuine GM parts if you can, aftermarket weatherstripping always comes up short in some way. Although Steele rubber products is probably the best in the aftermarket. I have no idea if they offer H2 stuff yet.

Rick, the best advice is to post pics before you throw parts at it.
That is the inner one. Those are a more common standard type. Same as used on the full size GM trucks, SUV's, and many other GM vehicles. The only real difference between the many part numbers is the total length. I have a brand new one for my GMC truck out in the shop that I have not installed yet and my H2 is also in my shop. I'll double check to confirm in a bit to verify that they are the same profile/style. On my truck I have both sides brand new and my truck is a 99 3 door so one is much longer than the other. I'll compare the length too. Had not thought of that but if it matches up we might be able to source more commonly available part numbers for the trucks and SUV's for that inner one and would just have to cut to the right length is all.
Now the other one above that that is still on in your photo, that one is H2 specific as it has custom molded sections that are required for it to fit. I'd imagine the others on the sides are also H2 specific.
Always seemed crazy to me that the H2 has so many on the sides yet they still have leak issues.... lol There is the long one at the top, inner door opening ones (what is missing in the photo above), one around the upper perimeter on the door itself, one along the back edge of the front doors (I think that one is for wind noise), and one on the body along the vertical upper edge by the back doors (I think that one is also for wind noise). Finally I think there might be two on the rear hatch as well.
Hey MixMan, I really appreciate you taking the added time and effort in responding to my post. I'm feeling a brotherhood from this ha ha. I think at this point I'm only going to replace the piece that is missing in the photo and the same piece on the front passenger side door.
Also, I want to replace the rear passenger side door trim on the out side of the frame (attached photo). It looks like part of it is missing but I think that was way it was when I bought the vehicle back in 2008. I really appreciate all the info and help you have given and if it is possible to buy some of this form you please let me know.
I was thinking that the 3 pieces were most likely going to have to come from GM Parts direct which is expensive. but it sounds lke you may have a better alternative. Please let me know and thanks again MixMan.
Also, I open to any ideas or suggestions you may have. I'm planning ordering performance chip as was recommended by my son in law who lucky for me, owns a large custom out shop in Nashville.
the vertical one on the rear quarter you can wash very well and stick it back to the body using 3M panel trim tape. as for maintenance on the weather stripping i use silicon spray or super lube grease depending on how dry they are. but the most important part is to first wash them well.
