Default 2005 3 inch lift kit

Hey all,

newnto the platform. Just picked up a 2005 with 58k miles w/ rear springs and I want to get a 3 inch lift kit (which I think I understand is more of a leveling kit). Anything recommended?

I came across this one. It comes with control arms and the shocks my control arms are in pretty rough shape I just bought my 2005 from a family friend. Unfortunately the truck has been sitting for about eight years.

appreciate the help!

Question is….. do you need a lift kit?

Im asking as this baby been sitting for 8 years and probably need other stuff done than a lift kit.
I’m thinking belts, hoses, fuel pump, new battery connections, brake flush and hoses, transmission flush just to name a few.
Others may chime in with more important things to look at.

doing all of that and then some preventative/ tune up stuff too just while I have it all apart I’m considering it. Relatively inexpensive for the 3 inch stuff just wondering what people are using

Default Lift kit...?

Try changing all fluids, have it inspected, drive it for a while then lift it and buy every plastic piece dipped in chrome frome AutoZone's "rice isle" and stick it on your thing. Good luck 👍

Make sure you replace cv axles. The old ones are used to being at a certain angle and will shred themselves shortly after you lift it. I think you should be fine going with oem again with only 3 inches just as long as they're new. I could be wrong though. Not sure what aftermarket options are available for lifts.

the UCA's will make contact with the upper drop stops at 3" of lift, the aftermarket UCA's (Kryptonite, Cognito) will have the ability to handle more lift due to how they are built above the drop stops. good shocks are also important when lifting the front with a lvl kit.
