Was there ever some sort of hood popper spring on these vehicles? I have an 03 and when I pull the release, nothing happens. I can open the hood sometimes but other times I have to pull the release again and slowly lower the release handle to leave it almost in a partially pulled position. Then I can open the hood. Any thought on this or should I just add a pair of door poppers by the latch?

 

lube the latch mechanism i use superlube spray. also spray the ends of the cables.
