Default 2003 H2 Blower Delay (45 Seconds)

Hi Guys.... New 2003 H2 Owner from Wisconsin here and also New to the board. I'm sure I'll be spending lots of time on the board going forward. I just picked up a 03 H2 Wagon with 77,000 miles. Overall she is in good shape with a few small things that need attention (oil leak from oil cooler lines, alignment, seats recovered, etc). But one oft he first things that needs attention is the Blower Fan. I've searched around for a while and see that the controller is usually the culprit and is a pretty easy and affordable fix (< $200 ). But most problems I see on the boards are the Blower won't come on the blower stays on after the ignition is off. My problem is different.

Here is my problem. When you turn AC or Heat on (and crank up the blower via the dash control)... it takes like 45 to 90 seconds for the fan to come on. After that it blows as normal. The delay is driving me crazy. My first thought is just replace the control... and I hear the new controllers sometimes won't work correctly with old blowers. So some people change both at the same time.

Anyone else have this before? A delayed Blower like this? I couldn't find anything online where anyone had this issue before. Greatly appreciate your help guys.

My 03 h2 has always done that so it’s probably normal.

my 03 also does that. it looks to correlate with my engine temp. first cold start seems to have a longer delay till i get some heat registering on the engine temp gauge then she fires up the fans. maybe it does not want to circulate cold air on cold days idk. i just got the truck in the winter so i do not know how it reacts on hot summer days yet.

Default Thanks Guys

Thanks Guys. Looks like this is Par for the Course. Its odd that sometimes the delay is longer than others. Perhaps it is linked to air Temp as Bronxteck suggested. I found an easy workaround. I never turn the fan completely off. When I leave the H2 I lower the fan to the lowest setting (1 Bar). Of course the Fan turns off with the Key. When I crank it back up... the delay is much shorter... Maybe a delay of 5 to 10 seconds. That I can live with. And when the fan is at its lowest setting I don't even really realize its on. So the key is never turning it completely off. If it is turns completely off... then the next time it turns on... it won't kick in for 45 seconds to 90 seconds.

Thanks again guys.

Great Forum.
