180 Degree Thermostat
I'm running a 178° thermostat. New radiator. External coolers for both the oil and the transmission. Gage still reads about 209°. Infrared thermometer at back of the head as well as front timing cover, shows about 181°. Plug in my bidirectional scanner, PCM agrees with 181°. All new stepper motors professionally installed with LED lighting. It's just the gauge, glorified idiot light with a needle to rest right in the middle.
Everything under the hood is basically new from the radiator, ac condenser back to the flex plate. All stock except I added a steam kit to the back of the heads, bypassing throttle body, I also run an independent engine oil cooler and transmission cooler using stainless braided lines with an fittings. Engine temp stays the same even on a 6 Mile uphill grade or when running the AC. If your engine temp is increasing with the AC on, use compressed air and blow through the AC condenser and radiator. You probably have a buildup of dust and debris. Blow both ways, front to back and back to front. If you have the mechanical fan and it's the original fan clutch, I would definitely replace that.
