I replaced the Headlight bulbs on my 08 and while doing so broke one of the bulb retaining rings. GM doesn't list this part as a separate item (no part #) its part of the headlight assembly. While looking for this part I was unable to locate an aftermarket item that was identified as a replacement. The parts stores showed the Dorman 42415 as a replacement but this one was smaller in diameter then the OEM. The Dorman 42420 also came up as a replacement but when looking it up under the 2008 H2 it showed it was the wrong part and would not fit the H2. I looked at the GM sites for an OEM part but as mentioned the ring showed as a part of the headlight assembly with no individual part #. The Dorman 42420 was around 1/4" shorter in height but the same in all other dimensions so I took a chance and ordered 2, I figured I would go ahead and replace them both and keep the OEM ring as a spare, the 42420 works as the OEM's

On the Dorman site the 42420 is listed as; Headlamp Bulb Retainer Assortment (it does come with another retainer but is not needed)
Dorman does not list the 42420 as a part that fits the 08/09 H2


My boys are scanning the OEM and are going to print me a couple to try out.
