Hummer H2For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.
Need help figuring what I will be able to do and what I wont within this system. Here is the list of what had what I am working with now. help me fill in the questions with what you had to do to resolve. 2006 Hummer H2 BOSE LUX SYSTEM
· Bose LUX Head Unit, Bose center console Amplifier, Center console Sub box.
· 2ea. 1" tweeters one in each Front Pillars down by the dash facing each other.
· 4ea. 6.5 mid range/mid base speakers/full range speakers
2ea. 4" rear pillar speakers
· factory Bose powered subwoofer 6 or 8"?.
Now Kenwood DDX6404S Head Unit.
· 4ea Polk Audio Round Speakers at doors Connected to Head unit
· Installing Back up Camera wired to dash switch power to use as rear view when needed.
· Installing Front dash cam.
. All Steering wheel controls already working.
Need to figure what I can use or what to do with:
· Front Pillar Tweeters and how easy are they to access and connect to what?
· Rear Most Round Speakers and how hard are they to access and connect to what?
· Center Console Sub Can it be used as is or does it need new amp and speaker?
· Add an aftermarket amp 5 channel?
· Figuring out what antenna wires where what and how to fix them as they where cut by theft or a hack?. see pic
My first question is your budget? Next I would get rid of the Polk door speakers and replace them with a nice component set 2way or 3way.This will take care of the tweeters Don't worry about the 4" rear speakers you can't hear them anyway. Dump the stock subwoofer. Choose a really nice sub and have a box made to spec. You don't need a monster subwoofer. Sundown audio make a killer 8" that will blow your mind. Take it to a qualified installer. You should consider having new wire run at this time. Sound deadener the 4 doors at this time.
This is just my suggestion on equipment I would consider using if I was doing another sound quality build.
crescendo audio symphony s6 full range amp.
Crescendo sc-525 5.25 components. Or even better would be the Mezzo SQ2 6.5 components.
Cosmos Audio makes a nice 5 channel. ep-2000.5
Sundown Audio x-8 v3 8" subwoofer
What's your budget.
This is my system
Pioneer DEH-80prs
4 Hertz HSK 163.3 door speakers. With sound deadener
Incriminator Audio IA40.1 amp
Incriminator Audio IA 6.4 amp
2 Sundown Audio zv4 subwoofers. Box built to spec.
Big 3 electrical.

I finished this first phase of De-Bose'ing, the main purpose was to figure out why the audio system did not work while on ACC key position, Only on RUN Key position and also to install Front Camera DVR and Rear Back up Camera, While the head unit was out I ran Monster RCA's for Sub and Rears and Amp power remote wire. After finding and running ACC position power to the HU and installing the front and rear view cameras I got to checking the speaker set up that was already installed, Polk audio Momo Speakers on the doors and each has cross over connected to the A Pillar Tweeters and the rear most 4" Speakers so all eight speakers work and connected to the HU, now I decided to pull the Bose amp and find the Sub connections, once found I tested with a 9V Battery and was able to hear it, it is dual voice coil and working, So I set to find an Amplifier that would match the Sub and ordered it fingers crossed the sub wasn't blown and that the amp could handle. during the wait I finished tucking and tying the cameras wires. once the amp arrived i got to testing it and surprisingly the sub is working and sounds amazing for it size and definitely compliments the rest of the system. Pretty happy of the outcome. Now that I have RCA Rear ready I may start to look for the recommended Hertz Speakers for the rear doors thanks fxgrnd38 and a amplifier for them. also will see how the Sub does now that it is bumping or will look for a replacement for it also for the next phase.
