Hummer H2For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.
Just got a email from Onstar that the presumed not connected onstar feature on the H2’s will be active again starting Tuesday 04/01
Note was that if you removed or disabled the onstar your vehicle won’t start till you activate onstar again.
This is BS IMO, how can they do that?
Glad that I have the fuse removed so it’s a easy fix but still.
BLK WLF, that would be a miracle as your H2 is 3g and cannot be accessed by OnStar anyway. Go out and press the blue Onstar button, watch, nothing happens. They can't do squat, tell them to pound sand!
Are you sure the email wasn't a phishing scheme? If your really concerned call them directly at: 1 (888) 466-7827 don't respond to the email.
In fact I pulled the fuse for mine because I found it actually causing a low parasitic drag.
Since the retirement of 3G cellular network the H2 is dumber then a rock an can no longer be accessed in anyway by GM (or Onstar) I had heard there was a campaign to upgrade older GM vehicles to 4g but that required the owner to pony up somewhere around $500.00 and sign an extended contract. That was some time ago and doubt if its available anymore. The only thing that can still receive a signal in the old H2 was the factory Sirius unit but that was for music use only.
On my prior H2's I pulled the Onstar units and put a nice compartment blank in their spots. With the 08/09 were stuck looking at useless buttons, lol
thats what you think. i had a water leak dribble onto the onstar unit and it kept dialing onstar on my 2003 i had to keep telling the operators my truck was possessed and auto dialing. after 3 calls while driving home the fuse got pulled... lol ....
I don’t want my H2 not to start tomorrow so I paid the re-activation fee and they gave me a good promotion on a one year service totaling $401, kinda a odd number but no biggie.
I am going to stay up till midnight and when the clock hits 12:01 on 04/01 it should all be fine.
Hi Have an 2009 H2 Lux. I was told the NoStar was a 2G Network in the email I got from my regular monthly report. What year is yours BLK WLK?
Like H2 SUT says..It sounds like a scam??? How can they deactivate your 2 when the OnStar isn't even connected to any network at 2g or 3g? Mine has the fuse in it and is deader than a pound of rocks.
2g has been gone for years in the US, and a 08/09 like BLK WLF has might possibly have 3g but I doubt 2g which was around in the very early 2000's an now only used in some 3rd world developing countries.
Last year when I told Onstar I did not want to renew my wifes 2018 XT5 I asked them about my 08 H2 (because I wanted to pull its fuse for parasitic draw) and they said it Onstar service was not available because my H2 was on the 3G network that has since been retired. So game over for all H2's. And those are the facts.

Gheeeeeeeeeeeez .... All kinds of stories from GM...2 G 3 G ??? Any Case.. OnStar In The rigs is Gone... I still have the Cell Phone OnStar App... That has some features to it.
On another note* I have a Bud who's dad has a 2007 Suburban with 52K on the clock garage kept. He's been having this trouble with dead batteries. Gone thru 5. Has gotten a new one under the Warranty as they were toast. If he left it in the garage for more than 3 days the battery went dead. My Bud is a working trained mechanic. Did all the parasitic drain tests and all looked normal in drain Milly Amps.
Been to two different dealers. The could not find the problem. One said it was ok ...nothing wrong. The other went??? and gave the truck back. So, I'm on a Private Corvette Forum with Mostly NCRS Corvette guys. One is a GM At large Troubleshooter that goes to dealerships to settle warranty claims in dispute. He also has access to all internal service Bulletins .
So I made a Post and told him the story. He sent me the below PDF and did mention OnStar as well. But look at the service Bulletin. Please keep this Service Bulletin here and please do not repost it. His Return Post is below: I only bring this up as we are talking about OnStar.
