keep blowing rear CV axle 98 H1
Hope someone has some thoughts...
I have a 98 H1 with Duramax swap. I installed a 4 corner big break kit and almost immediately had a rear axle CV failure. Figured just getting old, so went in and replaced virtually every suspension part in the truck, including new HD axles. Same right rear cv blew in 40 miles. Put a 3rd in and it blew in 300 miles. Just road use. Truck has no lift of mods other than break kit. All the geometry is correct to my measurements. I am completely dumbfounded. Anyone have some thoughts or suggestions?

It did have 12k and I replaced with 12k. However I didn't do the conversion, so I can't speak to gear change. Do you know if the 12k would even fit if not changed? I will add the rear definitely seemed to have more tension than the fronts.
The 10K/12K half shafts have different spline counts. The 10K will fit into the 12K hub gears but they won't touch. Do you happen to have a Detroit locker in the rear? Lots of people installed them but they will eat up rear half shafts. I pulled them out of mine.
Really appreciate the time and insight. Interesting to me you mentioned the lockers. I was thinking about them as well. I decided to ship it down to Predator Inc and just have another set of eyes on it. Maybe get a few other things done also.

🤮🤮🤮
THAT ABSOLUTELY SUCKS!!
have you checked the forums of anyone else doing this in the past? You would not believe what I've been through since my mine.
I drove 3 1/2 hours with the driver side window stuck down today all the way from Philadelphia back home. I pulled out at least six fuses. Change them out even though it didn't need it. Obviously played around with all of the switches 🥶🥶🥶 💩💩💩 🥶🥶🥶
I could've bought any car I wanted and last month I fell in love with, and bought this at 54 years of age and it's been nothing short of a learning experience! I love it, and I wouldn't change anything!
I got stuck in Park after a very, very very long day of flying back from Denver last week! Super fun!! this was 1:30 in the morning and an hour and a half from home and my people don't answer the phone at night. Do you know what I did?
I got on this form, ruled out a torque lock and realized the only way I was getting that truck out of park is to figure it out or get towed which would be a lot of time sitting around reading anyway. It was a FUSE!!
A 50 Cent fuse 🙏 🤦♀️🙏🤦♀️🙏
someone else on this forum had the same thing happen to them and because I was able to come across that information and I just so have a breakdown at a gas station that service truckers, I was back up and running, and on my way back home and never had any issues again after replacing it
can I be nosy? What made you start messing around with that in the first place?
