I have recently acquired a 96 Wagon diesel with low miles. It looks like several companies are offering their own unique AC kits that massively outperform the factory unit. Among them are one from predator and another from Mod Mafia. Doesn't look like vintage air has one for this truck but I could always put together one from the universal units if the other stuff on the market is junk.

Any suggestions or tips?

 

The replacement heater cores are non-existent for the original units but they can be rebuilt. Both Predator and Mod Mafia's kits are expensive. I don't know of anyone that has installed either so I have no real world performance reports to pass on. As I am sure you are aware there is no love lost between those two companies. Proximity to either might be the determining factor on which way to go.
