Hey all , I have 03 H1 with 6.5 turbo 40,000 miles.had engine warming up went inside came out and it was no longer running. tried restarting turns over but did not start.. I did notice that I have had a little more black smoke lately. couple of days before it was a little harder to start.thought nothing of it..what would be the first things to check. any help would be cool thanks

 

i would check the pmd or the injection pump itself. unplug the optical sensor ontop of the fuel injection pump and try to start. if it still doesn't start than you most likey have a bad pmd. this is kind of a fast way that i can tell which one it is. after the vehicle is cold try to start the vehicle, if it starts and shuts off again after it warms up, try to restart. if it restarts right away than it is the injection pump that has the issue, if it has to cool down and than restarts than it is the pmd. some people even pour water on the pmd to cool it faster and see if it starts after that.
the pmd is mounted on the drivers side of the injection pump. it is a thin black module with a wire harnes plugged into it.

cranked up yesterday,ran for about 5 minutes and cut off.. cranked right back up and runs fine now,,today cranked right up and has has been idling for 30 minutes no problem.. does this still sound like pmd..

 

i would still bet on the PMD. get the new stle PMD from stanadyne and plug it in. see how that will work.

 

I have the later problem but I just replaced the PMD and it still won’t start after running. I have to wait until it cools down. Any other troubleshooting ideas?
