My engine light came on yesterday after refueling. About after an hour drive. It has not been an issue. The gas tank cap seemed tight with no issues. How long does it take to go out it that is the issue? I opened it up and tightened it back up. I just refueled the main tank. I’m just trying to eliminate root cause.

A check engine light does not reset by it self. You need to plug in a code reader into your OBDII plug and pull the code to see what the problem is.
If this was an H3, I would tell you to tighten your gas cap and inspect your charcoal filter.
After reading this thread, I happened to come across some additional info. I read that if you run very low in fuel, your CEL will come on and it will reset itself after several engine cycles. So if this is the reason why your CEL came on, you're good. I would not risk it and see what code is stored in the computer.

 

What year is your truck? Might not have an OBD port.
