Amg242 vs nv242 hd for awd Camaro
Hey guys i could really use some help i am building a awd 69 camaro for hot rod drag week and it has really spiraled out of control in a good way. When designing this car i based it off a 4l60 and nv120 transfercase from a ss trailblazer. Now the project will make 1200 crank horsepower through a 416 lsx turbo setup and a 4l80 e
after alot of research i have decided to ditch the nv120 torsen set up due to 27 spline input and output and not matting to a 4l80 unless i have a custom input shaft designed. I will be autocrossing the car and drag racing it in the super chevy hot rod drags. I dont mean to draw this out just want to show you all what i am facing when making a decision.
So this is my predicament. The hummer amg 242 case is rad but reading all the tech info i can come across it seems it is built like a brick house but hummer states this units diffrential needs to be at low rpms? but they dont state what rpm. now the 242 hd has a another center diff apparently this can handle rpm.
Now what i want to figure out is there any way i can build a hybrid. Use a 242 hd diff with the 32 input and output from the amg and use the amg cooler for a hyperformance transfercase. The 242 would work great for my autocross as it is 48 52 split then i could lock it in awd locked for strip passes. I am very passionate about this project and hope to meet some memebers with some good insight. Maybe even another case that can work. I hope all is well my friends. Feel free to contact me for any questions.
