SO glad we could be of some help to you ..that's what we are here for! I believe most of us with any lick of sense are well aware of that rule..it was my cardinal rule (well one of them LOL) I however find that being of the 1st H3 modelowners was/is well worth any inconvenience I may have suffered, for I have gotten FAR MORE joy out of it then inconvenience! And I believe MOST others here will confer with me,for we were unigue!

Hmmmm... My truck has about 17,000 miles on It, and falls Into that VIN catagory!!!
So far so good, runs smooth with lots of pep, more than your usual H3 for some reason, was even told this by a Mechanic at the dealers. I hope I'm one of the lucky ones without this problem!!!

Well this is a small sample..but the odds are looking that if you made it past the 5000 to 7000 miles mark you probably are safe..and didn't get one of the bad engines.

The truth is that GM shipped the H3's with a defective head. All H3's made before 4/1/06 have heads that are defective. After that date, the H3 was built with new heads.
Mine was made in March 06. I bought it April 29 06.This means that mine was made, and was sold, with GM knowing that it has a head that has a fairly good chance of developing a problem. If I had known about the problem I would have delayed the purchase for a month. I am very upset with this.
I took the truck to Colorado in September, ran several 4x4 roads, a 3000 mile round trip. I am not sure I would do this again, and risk the problem developing a long way from home, and then have to deal with a week long repair a long way from home. This is a vehicle disabling problem.
To ad insult to injury, the 07 H3, which does not have a defective head, has a 100,000 mile warranty.
Everyone with a vehicle made before 4/1/06 should complain to Hummer, and GM. This was sold as a premier brand, and we should not have been treated like this.

Actually n5bxp some of your info is a tad inaccurate. My H3 was producedAFTER 04/01/06 according to my door panel and I still had the head problem. Mine also occurred while I was on a 2000 mile RT to the mountains. I was able to drive it for a week (with just a rough idle problem) until I could get it back home and to the dealer. There are some others here that have driven theirs for awhile or were told by the dealer that they could while parts were on backorder.

In agreement, yes this is a major problem and YES GM should take care of us! I don't dispute that at all. If you read my previous warranty posts then you will have seen my conversation regarding the 07 warranty with the GM rep who handled my case file. I told them this was a major slap in the face to those of us who went against our grain in purchasing a brand new vehiclein 1st year production, thus helping to make the H3 the huge success that it has been!

My Vin# falls into that category and I have almost 9k on mine with no problems so far. If I do have to get the head replaced you can bet I'll probably go ahead and trade mine in for an '07 or '08.

Why Rut? Once it's fixed, you should be good and besides if you press the issue with GM, they will give you an extended warranty anyway and a perk or 2 extra if you ask for it (within reason). Unless of course you have had and are having continual other issues.....

Actually I haven't had any issues at all. (Knock On Wood) I get along great with the service manager at the local Hummer dealer (even though he's a Cowboys fan). The reason I would trade her in is because I've read that some people have had to get their head replaced 2 or more times and I don't want to deal with it. Lastly, I've already decided in my mind (regardless of the head issue) that if Hummer puts a bigger engine in the H3 (V6 or V8) I'm going to trade her in.
