The only definitive answer to that question is by getting a used oil analysis performed. That will tell you how much life is left in your oil. Otherwise a change at 6K with a high quality filter should work fine.

at $2,50/GAL it costs apx $500 in gas to go 4000 miles.

a $25 oil change with synthetic is pretty cheap insurance.

ill be old fashioned and "waste"oil at 3000 miles.

roughly 100 bucks a year,,2 bucks a week,,a cup of coffee?

an oil change is the best way to waste money!!!

I fashoned a large funnel with about 2 feet of 1" plastic hose, it is big enough to have room for your hand to unscrew the drain plug and it catches all the oil flowing out and sends it down the hose into the drain pan, It is about 10 " across on the funnel, and it just sort of jambs between the pan and the cross member while its draining, not a drop lost.
