Question Help me choose a new head unit

Well some of you know I put LED's in all my interior lights throughout the dash and all the controls. Had a circuit of led's go out in my radio. Pulled the radio since I was installing a Panavise and thought I'd mess with the PCB. Long story short....loud pop followed by a plume of smoke-no clue what the hell I touched but burned the main copper runs which power the entire light circuit. Radio still works but no lights.....

Anyway, I'm curious what you guys are all running for aftermarket head units. I'm not looking for anything too crazy. I would like Nav, my XM/Sirius, onstar, and steering wheel controls. Basically keep all the factory stuff but with an aftermarket unit.

I've installed one before with multiple PAC interfaces and 10 miles of wiring to fully integrate everything but I have no clue what these 2's require.

I've seen double din head units anywhere from $150 to over $1k. Obviously I want to keep this as minimal to the pocket book as possible.

Thanks in advance!

Default Help me choose a new head unit

Hey LoJac963, I had the Kenwood Excelon DNX891HD Navi receiver installed this past Saturday on my '03. It's a great system you can even hook up your XM/Sirius and keep all the factory stuff i.e. steering wheel audio controls, rear passenger control, onstar, etc. when you get the GM interface as a separate system which is really a must. The unit consists of hd radio, bluetooth, dvd/cd, garmin navigation, built in iphone, ipod, ipad, android control. You can also connect up to 2 cameras!

The Kenwwod head unit at crutchfield cost $1199 but I got it in amazon for $995 shipped. The GM interface in crutchfield cost $183 and again, I got it in amazon for $105.

I am really happy with it and it was worth the $$$! Good luck!

Do you have the part number for the interface. There are so many, I have no idea which one I would need.

Thanks!

LoJac963,

The part number is: PAC RP5-GM11 Radio Replacement Interface for Select GM Vehicles. It's like the Kenwood DNX891HD head unit and the PAC RP5-GM11 interface were made for each other It's worth the $$ and you won't be sorry!
