How many miles are on your 06? Tires are stock size so no worry there.


I can tell you this. I decided to go through my 06 and installed heavy duty tie rods and all the steering components as a preventative measure. The parts were not bad at all but between all that work and lifting the rig a few inches, I've had mine in twice for alignments. Keep in mind mine has been a garage queen with offroading 2-3 times a month so I'm not over 80k on the odo.


So in other words, get under there and check all the front end components from the steering to suspension. Look for worn joints, loose parts, etc. Also jack up the front tires and try and wiggle them to see if the hubs are going bad.

 

Thanks for your reply. This is very useful info. My 2006 H2, also a garage queen, just turned 100K miles. I put Nitto 35" tries on it about 30K miles back and I still have lots of tread. We off road about once a month here and in MX. So, I will take your advice and do a look over from below. Thanks again for replying.

Definitely not a problem! I would change your steering stabilizer for sure, that is quick and easy. That was the one thing worn out on my rig, I could easily push/pull the plunger with very little resistance.

 

Thanks man. I'll check out my stabilizer. I took my H2 to an alignment place here in Scottsdale - they had a special price offer - and they put the front wheels back to specs. The rear wheels were fine. It does not swerve to the left now, only the slightest. Earnhardt's Cadillac, formerly Legends Hummer, wanted about $250 for an alignment. Rory's Autotek charged me $59 for a full alignment. I can certainly live with that. But they put 37psi in my tires when done, but I always fill them to 50 psi, since they are 35" Nittos on a heavy H2.

 

Good to hear she's fixed up. I didn't realize you were in AZ, I'm in the far west valley out in Surprise. I head out to Scottsdale pretty frequently to hit the gun shops, there isn't anything worth while in the west valley.


$250 for an alignment is ridiculous. They built a Big O right down the road from me and they have always been really great to me for both my H2 and my GMC Canyon.
