I use a Canon Powershot Pro1. I want another one with more zoom power. It's a nice camera, just so heavy, it's like having a brick in my purse.

Well .. I have 3, well, two really, my wife uses my older SLR. Those pics were taken with a Canon Rebel XTi, 10.1 MPixel. I also have a Canon EOS 5D, 12.8 MPixel, and my old original Canon Rebel, 6.4MPixel my wife now uses. I think I lost a couple of lenses along with that camera too LOL!!!
If you are looking for a good SLR that won't kill the wallet I would recommend the Rebel XTi. It has probably the largest selection of lenses available to it.

I should probably add I used a 50mm Canon Macro lens for those pictures .. what good is the body if you don't know what lens it is lol.

Umm fair enough, I'll give it to you .. BUT ... try lugging around a 5D along with the battery grip with additional batteries in it. Now throw on my 180mm Canon Macro lens at about 1.2 lbs ... I ended up having to go buy a monopod just for that Q#@$!@#$ lens cuz I couldn't take many pictures before my arm got to be tired and start to shakeLOL!

LOL!! All this lense talk is making me want to learn more about these things. I don't have anything like that, just the camera. I'm going to check into the Canon Rebel XTi you recommended to Tina. The one I use is only 8mp and 7x optical zoom. I'd love to have a couple really nice lenses for some good zooming!!

Well, if you do get the XTi I'd recommend the 70-300mm IS zoom lens. It's about $600 vs the non-IS (Image Stabilization) version which runs you about $250. It's a pretty heavy lens and having the IS is a life saver if you wait for a shot for a while. I have both of them, I bought the non-IS first and then picked up the IS later because I regreted not getting it the first time around.
There are a couple of good 400mm telephoto zoom lenses available too but now you are starting to talk $1,500+ just for the glass .. they do take awfully good pictures though :-)
Make sure you get yourself lens hoods for those lenses too, they prevent stray light from entering the lens. You may also want to pic up a 58mm polarizing filter, it takes glare out of those water shots and makes the sky look more natural:-)
