Awesome pics! Looks like fun.
And I hear ya, pics dont do justice to the gnalryness of the terrain
Those flat bed pic ups seem pretty popular down under, you just dont see those in the states.
And why is that guy in red shirt giving us the finger?

Actually that is me and my hang just happened to be raising....or did I just see a Jeep go by!!!!!!
The tray backs are very popular here. The Hilux is my sons and we have been rebuilding it as a sort of father/son project. It is an 89 2.8l Diesel which has a turbo and intercooler, 2" Old Man Emu lift, 2" body lift, extended shackles, solid front and rear axles, reaer ARB diff lock, 33" tyres, racing seats, dual battery, 500W inverter and probably some other things I have forgotten!
The other car is one of his mates and is a 4.2L Diesel MQ Nissan Patrol with a 2" body lift, extended tench diggers..I mean shackles, raised tray and rock sliders...he has just started doing it up. A pretty good effort for him to get up all of those tracks today open diffed!
