Yesterday I engaged in the annual XM renewal dance yet once again. My $85 per year subscription lapsed and the rate went up to $180 per year. So I called customer service and asked if they could give me the lower rate. No such rate is available, sorry. So I asked to be connected to Cancellation, after a lengthy hold the cancellation rep answered. I told him that if I couldn't get the same rate as last year I was going to cancel. He immediately offered to keep me on that "promotional" rate for another year.

So after playing their cancellation game, I am back to the $85 annual rate for one more year. For me, the XM service is worth that much but not $180.

Not entirely true. They do pay a franchise fee per subscriber that covers the rights payments to the owners of the music. I don't think $24 per year is going to make it, but hey - worth a try.

 

They just sent me a code for $77 a year. If I find it I'll post it here.

 

If they run the rest of their business like they run my part...they need some new people. My wife bought my H3 for my Xmas present in '09. It came with a 90 day free trial..On the way home, I turned the radio on..Satellite !!...Have never called or contacted them..Still have it..
