XM from the factory?
I am trying to narrow down what vehicles had the factory XM and what don't. I am looking at 2003s, does anyone have a break down of what does and does not come with XM? Are all the head units capable, some just need the tuner? Or are there some that don't do it at all?
On a somewhat related note, what does it take to add nav to a 2003? What parts and at what expense?

My 03 came with the BOSE radio but no XM. I bought a used Nav unit from a 2006 H2 on Ebay and a XM module/tuner from GM. I had to also run a wire from the VSS wire in the cluster to the Nav unit. I paid the Ebay seller $100 extra for an unlocked radio but it was locked and I had to go to the dealer and pay them $50 to unlock the radio. Mine works great but I would bet the Nav/radio was stolen as the serial # sticker was missing. If I had to do it over I would not buy a used unit from Ebay. I bet I have $1000 or so in it but I would not go back without it now.
Interesting. Would I be better off with an aftermarket screen? I don't really need the navigation so much as a touch screen with built in XM/Sirius would be awesome. I was thinking $700ish for a Pioneer? Opinions?
I have '07 and Hummer dealer in Greer, SC recommended the Kenwood over a stock system, period. I got to know the sales manager pretty well and they were honest. The OEM nav and options are weak compared to Kenwood. Said they used "Rogers Sterio" (local guy to this area I think), and not their dealer shop. You can get it with or without Nav. I've not yet done the install, but it was close to $2,500 complete. You can haggle $300 - 400 off the price.

I have a factory NAV radio wit three working DVDs, factory GPS RX module and factory XM receiver to post on ebay from my 2005. I replaced it with pioneer system. The new system 4k. Let me know if you want my factory stuff.
I had a Corvette that I almost never drove and it killed 2 batteries as dead as nails. The radio would "lock" when this happened and I finally found the procedure on the Internet to unlock. I don't remember the exact procedure, and I left it in the owner's manual when I traded it for my H2. It involved pressing a series of the buttons, reading a code from the radio display, using this to get the "unlock code" from the Internet, then entering this code using the radio buttons. I talked with the local dealer and they would do it for no charge, just had to bring it in. One more thing, I also found out during my research (Corvette), the factory display above the steering wheel was a built in "code reader". If you pressed the buttons in the correct sequence, it cycled through ALL the computer generated trouble codes. I was getting a "check engine" light, carried it to the dealer, left it, called back and the service tech guy (not the mechanic, the kid who writes the work you need), said it was clear. I picked it up, and on the way home engine light came on again. To make a longer story short, it was high voltage on one of the 2 radiator fans due to a dirt-dobber nest. The code indicated the high voltage and this led me to it. Reading Calif Phil's comments made me wonder if the H2 has a similar system?
