Wipers
We got about 8" of snow followed by ice last night so the Hummer was covered with a lovely combination this morning. After cleaning it off we determined the wipers were not working so I checked the fuse and the relay which were both good. Off to the dealer it went (luckily girlfriend was going shopping near there as it is an hour and a half away) where the service guy determined ice had gotten down under the plastic cover below the wiper assembly freezing the drive mechanism. After a quick thaw they worked fine. As she was leaving, the service writer told her that if something had been damaged Hummer might not cover it since the vehicle was parked outside! WTF is that? I don't recall signing or reading anything about the vehicle needing to be stored inside as a warrantee requirement. Unfortunatly the garage is fillede with a BMW X5 and Mustang Bullet, both of which I thought were much weaker vehicles than the Hummer. Anyone ever have a problem with warrantee coverage because the car was parked outside?

I met that service rep, got a pic of him to share. You know he is full of chit as soon as his lips move. There is no "outside" warranty exception, and he cannot void any warranty because only a GM employee can do that.

I have no idea if they can void the warranty for that, I really doubt it. I think it is just there job to try and screw as many people that do not stick up for their rights, but I have not dealt with warranty claims in a long time. Have just heard the horror stories.
I have had some problems with my wipers. They stuck at the fully up position when I was test driving it to purchase. The sales guy said, probably just a fuse, the manager said probably the ice and I said the motor was probably pooched. There answer was, don't worry about it cause it is still under warranty. The manager ran out to see for himself and returned to say it was working now, which it was. I have not taken it in yet as it has been working. If I turn the wiper selector to the first setting or rotate it back, the blade will move up about a half inch and sit there. Move it to the second setting and beyond, they work right away. I have even had the wiper blade move up on the windshield suddenly that half inch when not even using them. Will see what the dealer says when I take it in next.
Anyone else experience this problem?

I haven't had mystery wiper action yet - just apparently frozen ones. It's a **** poor design that allows ice and water BELOW the plastic covering preventing removal when fozen. And even a more **** poor answer to the problem when the service douche tells us to park it inside when it snows! We can put a man on the moon but can't design windshield wipers that work - WTF? The mystery wiper motion may be the wiper transmission going - I guess that's the weak spot according to the service douche.
