I I have the gobi roof rack installed. It comes with the gobi plate that mounts in the front of cage. When I open my sunroof, the wind noise from this plate is unbearable. I'm thinking g of removing it and reinforcing the wiring for my pia lights with some heavy duty tape. Question is, will removing the gobi plate eliminate all that wind noise?

 

No.... It will still hit the rack.

 

But wouldn't it be much less wind noise without that plate? That's a solid plate about 6 inches high.

It will reduce but not eliminate the noise. The lights are there too... Trying to figure out a solution; however, not sure if one's there... Great rack though

 

I don't have the gobi plateon mine & it's noisy as hell...I close the sunroof/sunroof shade & crank the tunes!

 

We have the same truck and color. I was hoping by removing the plate would reduce the wind noise somewhat. I love driving with the sunroof open in the summer but can't take that noise.

 

I fabbed some light mounts for my gobi rack to have 2 lights in each section for 8 lights total. I don't have the air deflector installed since I think it looks better without it.

Any speed above I'd say 40mph the noise is ridiculous. I almost can't have the sunroof open the noise is so bad hitting all those lights. It's the price we pay for having a rack though.
