where to live??????
My family decided a few weeks ago that we want to move within the next two years, my brother and his wife and my mom is going to be moving with us and looking to buy a lot next to ours if possible. Problem is none of us have any idea where we want to move. Help me find a place to live!!
Here is what we must have:
1.) Must have 4 seasons and snow in the winters
2.) Looking for country living but not having to drive an hour to get to the nearest grocery store.
3.) Good Schools for the kids
4.) looking for a house on or near a lake (must have good fishing nearby!!)
5.) not in Canada[8D]
6.) Someplace my mother in law couldn't drive to for a visit
7.) a state that wouldn't have a problem with my gun collection
8.) Cannot be PA...My dad was born and raised there, my mom made him move to NJ when I was little but promised him they would move back when he retired.....he passed away at 54 years old and never got the chance to move back....she cries whenever I bring up PA so it's out of the question.
so what do you guys think? This is a completely serious question BTW!! So far I have thought of North Carolina and Texas.

we get all 4 seasons in northern cal, snow close enough, but we don't have to drive through it if we don't want, plenty of lakes and rivers. but, i don't want you moving out here and driving my property values lower than they've already dropped . . . . . . . . . .
and where did you get the idea that Texas has 4 seasons? they have 2, hurricane(or tornado, take your pick)and ****** hot and hoomid . . . . . . . . [:'(] you'd probably fit right in in Oklahoma though . . . . . . plenty of psychotic rednecks in those woods . . . . . . . .

Upstate New York???? Hey, wait a minute, I got it. The Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Yooper aye! They got four seasons: WINTER, Spring, Summer, and Fall. Lots of lakes, and miles and miles of country. Oh crud, the grocery store part might be tricky unless you stay near a town.
Never mind, Minnesota or Wisconsin.

Northern Virginia:
Headquarters of the NRA (plenty of gun stores and ranges)
Walk into Walmart and buy a Shot gun
Plenty of Country settings ~ 1hr drive West of DC
Fairfax county, one of (if not) the best school county in the nation
Plenty of Government jobs nd Government contractors
Median house income ~150k
Always new houses available and plenty of land
I have a view of the Blue Ridge mountains from my living room (Shenondoah Valley, etc)
Supper clean area, low crime
Cons:
House prices are still pretty strong ~600k for something desent (new construction ~5000 sq ft) cheaper the further west you go
VA has these new insane speeding fine laws $1000 for average speeding ticket $3000 for reckless (20mph over)
