What is this world coming to?

I have been racking my brain trying to come up with reasons why Hummers evoke such strong hatred from some people. Even once you explain how your H3 is getting about the same MPG or better than many pickups and SUVs, people still find reasons to hate Hummer. Feel free to add your own theories. Know you enemy as yourself, I always say.

Young man, you are wise beyond your years. I just wish there were more people like you in your generation. I'm glad that you can see beyond the rhetoric and pick out the truth.

I looked up some cars on fueleconomy.gov and to be honest, with that as the source, even some cars dont do much better than the H3. I recall just reading someone saying Hummer could just change the image and it could be saved (in reference to the possibility of getting rid of the Hummer brand), but then what would the Hummer be? They said they should just lose the luxury SUV stuff and make it smaller aswell as appeal to younger drivers. I dont get it, if you make it much smaller than the H3 I think it will probably look too much like a Jeep or a Suzuki, which would mean it isnt unique anymore, not to mention that just isnt what a Hummer is supposed to be. I like to quote a Corvette owner who commented on some anti-sports car users (If I recall correctly) and said "And I hope you get lost in the parking lot because so many cars look just like yours". I dont think I've mistaken anything for a Hummer except the new FJ Cruiser, mostly when I see the similar front-end. IMO, too many cars look alike these days, I have trouble especially with the Toyota and Honda look-a-likes though.
So far I think you pretty much got that list down. Basically it can be any of the above reasons and any combination. Its like Hummer gets attacked from all sides aswell, you get the enviroment people, the people who say Hummer owners never go offroad, the Jeep people who say the Hummer isnt a capable offroad vehicle and how much better a Jeep is, people who blame Hummers for high gas prices and/or the deaths of soldiers in Iraq, and then the people who are just jealous of the Hummer and/or owner.
PS- Whenever I type a ' it multiplies itself in the post???

Wow, shocking. There are many people out there that want a total and complete ban on pickup trucks and large SUVs. I've heard rumours of proposed legislation that in some states that would limit who can own and operate large, non-commercial vehicles. You would basically have to apply for a permit to drive a 3/4 ton pickup or a large SUV. Even if SUVs could get 30 MPG, many on the left hate them all the same. They feel unsafe in their sardine can because people like us are driving 4,700+ lbs vehicles with larger tires and steel brush guards. I hate to be an alarmist, but the communists are coming and they will not stop until you are driving what they are driving. Hummer owners are probably the first to feel the wrath of the left, but other makes/models had better get wise, because they are next.
Theres also people who dont like Sports Cars (for example the Corvette) so apparently we are all supposed to drive cars the size of a Prius (if not smaller) with low Horsepower and no room for groceries or hardware not to mention towing. Okay, I admit I think some of the smaller cars are.... "cute" but that doesent mean I want to be forced to drive one myself. You could probably make the SUVs run off pure air and they would still be complaining. I remember reading some article on the Army and a new Hummer Hybrid IIRC, It looked like it was cut down to the size of a dune buggy and someone commented and said "I dont care if its a Hybrid, it still uses materials from the environment" or something to that effect. On that ban site they mention in the Hatemail section about 4WD cars, I guess you can forget about going offroad too, because apparently you should have a 4WD CAR.
Had a Corvette owner say something the other day when I was driving The H2 about being able to fiond a parking spot. I told him........If I can't find an empty one, I can alwaysuse your spot, just look under my truck to find your car when you thinkyou're ready to leave.
He huffed, slamed his door and peeled out when he left!! HAHA
