Default What are my options for tires??

Hello,

My H3 needs new tires. The car is used as a daily commuter but in during deer season its out on the the deer lease.

What is a good on road / off road tire that has little to no road noise but retains a nice SUV aggressive tread.

Thank you

Eamples would be the BFG Allterains, but I've heard they are a bit noisy on the highway.

i dont belive you can find a " quite" highway tire that has an agressive tread pattern for off-roading, they two just dont go togther.

Don't worry about the speedo too much, you can always get that adjusted with a new flash (plug for PCM4LESS? ). I would worry about the H3 feeling sluggish and loosing mpg as a daily commuter. The 35's will really fill the wheel well nicely though. I've seen several people with the Falken Rocky Mountain tires over the past weekend but I didn't get a chance to ask them what they thought of them and I'm almost 100% certain that they don't wheel either. I have Duratracks on mine, but some don't like the way they feel (squirmy when new but they feel much more solid now with 26K miles on them and they are fairly quiet).

I have had the Hankook Dyna Pro MT 315/75-16 for about a year and love them. I drive from Austin to Dallas two times every month (400 miles round trip) and took several trips from Austin to Oklahoma City last year (800 miles round trip). The road manners are great. I didn't notice a difference in MPG on the highway, maybe in the city over the 33" Bridgestone AT's my H3 came with. Putting a roof rack on made the only noticable differance due to wind drag. I have wheeled with these tires several times and they did well. I have had BFG's and Yokohama's which where both great tires, the Yokohama's wear fast and are loud after you get some miles on them due to being directional. The Hankook's are the best tire for the money for someone who wants a well behaved MT in my opinion and experience.

I can't vouch for the Geolanders on an H3 yet, but I have them on my 4x4 CrewCab Powerstroke and love 'em so much that I plan on adding them to the H3...once I get one bought!

Today I got my 315/75R16 Dura Tracks installed and my first impression is ...wow!
Now the H3 looks like a Hummer should look like!
I had the same issue to find a rough looking tires what performs well on the street. There is a slight noise, but this is absolut acceptable.
The look is just awesome....as soon I have time to shoot some nice photos I will post them...
