What to expect in snow

I was using all season tires on my '04 GTO before I got my H3, so I was easily impressed by its handling in the snow. Simply put, I felt like I could ignore the snow - and usually did. At least in the context of worrying about getting stuck. My biggest concern was other drivers sliding into me.

We don't get much snow, but last year we had about 8 inches fall. My driveway has a steep incline of about 100ft immediately off the main road. I live back in the woods a ways. No problems at all with stock H3 and tires.
Last summer a friend of mine had an accident. He swerved to miss a deer. then over corrected and went down and embankment backwards in his Ford Dually. The truck came to rest on top of a big rock, literally see-sawing. With the back end hanging over a Culvert drain and pinned on a tree from the bank and tree. My original plan was to pull it free from the trees then drive down below and pull it out from the bottom side, since it was accessible by a side road. Jokingly, I said to my spotter, if it pulls easy, we'll just drag it up the hill. I had to use two 20ft straps to reach it. So I'd guess around 30 ft down on the incline. I put it in 4 locking low, from the shoulder of the main road starting pulling forward. Not one spin. When I got out, I expected to unhook and drive down below, but to my amazement, there the truck sat; on the main road's shoulder.

I would run BFG All Terrain Tires. They are a incredible balance between off road prowess and everyday street driving. They also wear very well and come in a 295 Size which fills the wheel well just a little bit more than the 285s. You should be able to get the 295 size for about $195/Tire

I just installed some yokohama geolander at's. I didnt really research them. My tire guy had them on the shelf and he cut me a deal because he had to meet his numbers for yokohama. gave $95 each.
